Your vehicle is equipped with a side airbag on each front seat.

The airbag is designed to provide the driver and/or front passenger with additional protection beyond that provided by the seat belt alone.

Side airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side impacts, depending on the severity, angle, speed, and point of impact of the collision. Side airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.

WARNING

Do not allow passengers to lean their head or body against the doors, rest their arms on the doors, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between the doors and passengers when they are seated in seats equipped with side and/or curtain airbags.

WARNING

  • The side airbag supplements the driver and passenger front airbags and seat belt systems and does not replace them. Therefore, always wear your seat belt while the vehicle is in motion. Side airbags deploy only in certain side impact conditions severe enough to cause serious injury to vehicle occupants.
  • For best protection from the side airbag system and to avoid injury when the side airbag deploys, both front seat occupants should sit upright in the normal position with the seat belt properly fastened. The driver should place both hands on the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. The passenger should place their hands on their lap.
  • Do not use any aftermarket seat covers.
  • Using seat covers may reduce or completely eliminate the effectiveness of the system.
  • To avoid unintentional side airbag deployment, which may result in injury, avoid striking the side impact sensor while the ignition switch is ON.
  • If the seat or seat cover is damaged, we recommend having it serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING! Do not attach objects

  • Do not place any objects over the airbag or between the airbag and yourself. Also, do not attach any objects to the airbag deployment area, such as the door, side door glass, front and rear pillars.
  • Do not place any objects between the door and the seat. They may become dangerous projectiles if the side airbag deploys.
  • Do not install any accessories on or near the side airbags.
