SRS Care

~1min read

The SRS requires virtually no maintenance, so there are no parts that can be safely serviced by the owner. If the SRS airbag warning light does not come on or stays on continuously, we recommend having the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

  • Modifying SRS components or wiring, including adding any kind of emblems to the pad or modifying the vehicle body structure, may adversely affect SRS operation and may result in injury.
  • To clean the airbag covers, use only a soft dry cloth or one moistened with plain water. Solvents or cleaning agents may adversely affect the airbag covers and the proper deployment of the system.
  • Do not place any objects over or near the airbag modules in the steering wheel, instrument panel, or front passenger's instrument panel above the glove box. Any such object may cause injury if the vehicle is involved in an accident severe enough to deploy the airbags.
  • If the airbags have deployed, we recommend having the system replaced by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • Do not tamper with or disconnect the SRS wiring or other SRS components. This may result in injury from accidental airbag deployment or render the SRS inoperative.
  • If airbag system components must be disposed of, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, certain precautions must be observed. An authorized Kia dealer knows these precautions and can provide you with the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions and procedures may increase the risk of personal injury.
  • If your vehicle has been flooded and the carpet is wet or water has entered the floor, do not attempt to start the engine; we recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
