Air Conditioning

~2min read

All Kia air conditioning systems are charged with R-1234yf refrigerant.

1. Start the engine. Press the A/C button.

2. Set the mode toposition.

3. Set the outside air or recirculated air control to the desired position.

4. Adjust the fan speed and temperature control to maintain maximum comfort.

• If maximum cooling is required, turn the temperature control fully to the left, set the mode control to MAX A/C, then set the fan speed control to maximum speed.

CAUTION: Do not use an excessive amount of air conditioning.

When using the air conditioner, carefully monitor the temperature gauge while driving uphill or in heavy traffic when the outside temperature is high. Operating the air conditioning system may cause the engine to overheat. Continue to use the fan, but turn off the air conditioning system if the temperature gauge indicates engine overheating.

✽ NOTICE

When opening the windows in humid weather, the air conditioner may create water droplets inside the vehicle. Since excessive water droplets may damage electrical equipment, the air conditioner should only be used with the windows closed.

  • If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight in hot weather, open the windows briefly to allow hot air to escape from the vehicle.
  • To reduce humidity inside the windows on rainy or humid days, reduce humidity inside the vehicle using the air conditioning system.
  • During air conditioning system operation, you may sometimes notice a slight change in engine speed as the air conditioner compressor cycles. This is a normal system operating characteristic.
  • Operate the air conditioning system for a few minutes every month to ensure maximum system performance.
  • When using the air conditioning system, you may notice clear water dripping (or even a puddle) on the ground under the vehicle. This is a normal system operating characteristic.
  • Operating the air conditioning system in the recirculation position provides maximum cooling; however, continuous operation in this mode may cause the air inside the vehicle to become stale.
  • During cooling mode, you may sometimes notice a misty airflow due to rapid cooling and entry of humid air. This is a normal system operating characteristic.
