Description and Operation

Description

The intake door actuator is located on the blower unit. It controls the intake door according to the signal from the control unit. Pressing the intake selection switch switches between recirculation and fresh air modes.

Specifications

Specifications

Door Position Voltage (V) Fault Detection
Max. Cool 0,3 ± 0,15 Low voltage: 0.1 V or less
Max. Heat 4,7 ± 0,15 High voltage: 4.9 V or more

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Turn the ignition off.

  2. Disconnect the intake actuator connector.

  3. Check that the intake door actuator moves to the fresh air position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and ground to terminal 4.

Check that the intake door actuator moves to the recirculation position when the connections are reversed.

  4. Connect the intake actuator connector.

  5. Turn the ignition on.

  6. Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 5.

  7. If the measured voltage does not meet the specification, verify operation by replacing the existing intake door actuator with a new genuine part. Then determine whether replacement of the temperature control actuator is required or not.

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Remove the center lower panel of the airbag.

(Refer to Body - "Center Lower Panel")

  3. Remove the passenger side air vent duct (A) after loosening the screw.

  4. After loosening the mounting screws, remove the aspirator hose (A).

  5. Disconnect the connector, then remove the intake door actuator (A) after loosening the mounting screws.

  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
