Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The STPS operates through a non-contact magnetic sensing device combined with a simple electronic circuit, which produces two distinct and different logic-level signals. The STPS output signal changes when a separate ferromagnetic shunt, which is attached to the seat track, approaches. The logic signal produced is the result of the non-contact device being activated or deactivated. When the seat is in the front track position zone, the sensor outputs a low-current (inhibit) signal. When the seat is in the rear track position zone, it outputs a high-current (enable) signal.
