Description
Unlike the original single-stage airbag systems, new restraint systems include complex logic to select or, alternatively, suppress different levels of airbag deployment inherent in the advanced restraint system. The advanced restraint system is capable of distinguishing information regarding passenger occupancy. These inputs are provided through the WCS. The purpose of such a restraint system is to reduce the risk and level of injury by automatically adapting the airbags and seat belt pretensioners to the vehicle's driving condition, its occupants, and the severity of the accident. The current WCS described in this specification continuously detects and classifies the front passenger seat. The passenger classification system described in this section is a strain gauge type weight classification system (WCS). It consists of 2 weight sensors and an ECU that classify the passenger's weight. It is installed on the seat track assembly.Test yourself
