Seat belt pretensioners (BPT) are installed inside the center pillars (LH & RH). When the vehicle is subjected to a frontal impact of a certain severity, the seat belt pretensioner helps reduce the severity of injuries to front occupants by retracting the seat belt webbing. This prevents front occupants from moving forward and striking the steering wheel or instrument panel when the vehicle crashes.
