AHB Brake Bleeding Procedure

  • Do not reuse drained brake fluid.
  • Always use genuine DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid. Using non-genuine DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid may cause corrosion and shorten the service life of the brake system.
  • Make sure dirt or other foreign matter does not contaminate the brake fluid.
  • Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle, as it may damage the paint. If brake fluid gets on the paint, wash it off with water immediately.
  • When bleeding air, make sure the brake fluid level is at least 10 mm above the "MIN" mark.
  • To remove the reservoir cap and add brake fluid, always keep the SST air shut-off valve closed.
Air Bleeding Tool Installation Procedure
To prevent damage to the brake fluid reservoir and to ensure worker safety, set the gauge pressure to the standard value before installing the SST.
  1. Before installing the SST on the vehicle, close the air shut-off valve (A) to set the gauge to the standard value.
For worker safety and correct pressure adjustment, make sure the plug (B) is installed correctly.
  2. After connecting the air hose and opening the air shut-off valve (A), adjust the gauge (B) to the standard value.

    Standard pressure value: 0.3 ~ 0.5 MPa (43.5 ~ 72.5 psi)

  3. Close the air shut-off valve (A) and remove the plug (B).
For safety, make sure the air shut-off valve is closed, then remove the cap.
  4. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
  5. Install the cap (A) from SST (0K585-E8100) onto the reservoir.
  6. Make sure the check valve (A) is closed, then connect SST (09580-3D100) (A) to adapter (B).
  7. To remove SST (09580-3D100) from the vehicle, first close the air shut-off valve (A).
  8. After disconnecting the air hose (B), bleed air from the reservoir by slowly opening the air shut-off valve (A).
To prevent brake fluid from flowing back, be sure to open the air shut-off valve slowly, then bleed air from the reservoir.
  9. Remove SST (09580-3D100) and the SST cap (0K585-E8100) from the reservoir.
  10. Install the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Air Bleeding Tool Removal Procedure. AHB Brake Bleeding, Step 1 (IBAU Control Unit OFF)
For bleeding, use the IBAU filled with brake fluid.
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal to turn off the IBAU ECU.
  2. Install the bleeding adapter (Special Service Tool: 09580-3D100) and SST cap (0K585-E8100) to the reservoir, and apply pressure (0.3~0.5 MPa (43.5~72.5 psi)) to it.
  3. Begin bleeding all bleeder screws in the following sequence until no air bubbles appear in the fluid.PSBIBAU (2 bleeder screws)4 wheels (15 seconds each)
  4. Bleed air by depressing the brake pedal and opening the bleeder screws; then close the bleeder screws and release the brake pedal. Repeat this procedure 10 times.
    • Bleeder screw sequence:IBAU (2 bleeder screws)4 wheels
    • Repeat until no more air bubbles appear in the fluid.
    • Be careful not to open the bleeder screws too far, as air may enter the brake system.
  5. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal to turn on the IBAU ECU.
  6. Set the ECU S/W to brake bleeding mode.
Set the ECU S/W to air bleeding mode for 30 seconds.
    1. After turning the ignition on with the engine start button, set the front wheels straight ahead and the shift lever to the P (Park) position.
    2. With the VDC switch in the "OFF" position, press and release the brake pedal 10 times. Be sure to press the brake pedal more than 40 mm and fully release it.
    3. Turn the engine start button OFF, then restart the engine and turn the VDC switch to "ON" by pressing and holding the VDC OFF switch down for 3 seconds.
The bleeding mode is canceled under each of the following conditions:
    1. IGN OFF and shift lever in D/R/N position
    2. Diagnostic Trouble Code Detection
    3. Brake fluid level below "MIN"
    4. "VDC OFF" switch is off
  7. Using the bleeding tool (Special Service Tools: 09580-3D100, 0K585-E8100), apply fluid pressure of 0.3~0.5 MPa (43.5~72.5 psi) to the reservoir. With the brake pedal pressed halfway, loosen the bleeder screws on all 4 wheels to release brake fluid, then close the bleeder screws. Repeat this 10 times, then release the pedal.
  8. Connect the GDS to the data link connector located under the instrument panel and perform the "Fluid Circulation Mode" on the GDS. Fluid circulation mode removes air bubbles from the brake fluid and releases air by circulating brake fluid inside the IBAU to the reservoir.
