Description
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor is built into the Airbag Control Module (SRSCM). When the vehicle turns about its vertical axis, the yaw rate sensor electronically detects the yaw rate from the vibration of a tuning fork element inside the sensor. If the yaw rate reaches a specified value after vehicle yaw is detected, ESC control is activated again. The lateral G sensor detects the lateral acceleration of the vehicle. A small element inside the sensor is attached to a deflecting beam. The direction and magnitude of the lateral G acting on the vehicle can be determined from the change in electrostatic capacitance caused by the lateral G.
