Steering Angle Sensor Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

Installed in the MDPS (Motor Driven Power Steering), the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) sends signals to the HECU via the CAN bus line. The SAS is used to detect the steering wheel turning direction and speed. The HECU uses signals from the SAS when performing ESP-related calculations. The EPS system components (steering angle sensor, torque sensor, fail-safe relay, etc.) are located inside the steering column and EPS control unit assembly. The steering column and EPS control unit assembly must not be disassembled for inspection or replacement (Refer to ST (Steering System) group).
