Parking Distance Warning

• The rear parking distance warning may sound inconsistently depending on the vehicle speed and the shape of the detected objects.
• The rear parking distance warning may malfunction if the bumper height or sensor installation has been changed or damaged. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories may also affect sensor operation.
• The sensors may not detect objects within 30 cm (11 in.) of the sensor, or may display an incorrect distance. Use caution.
• If the sensor is frozen or covered with snow, mud, or water, it may not operate until the contamination is removed with a soft cloth.
• Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor. Damage to the sensor may occur.

✽ NOTICE

This system can only detect objects within the range and location of the sensors; it cannot detect objects in other areas where sensors are not installed. Also, small or thin objects such as poles or objects located between the sensors may not be detected.

Always visually check the area behind the vehicle when reversing.

Be sure to inform all drivers of the vehicle who may be unfamiliar with the system about its capabilities and limitations.

WARNING

Be especially careful when the vehicle approaches objects on the road, especially pedestrians, and especially children. Keep in mind that some objects may not be detected by the sensors due to the distance, size, or material of the object, all of which may limit the effectiveness of the sensors. Always perform a visual inspection to make sure the vehicle is clear of all obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.

Self-Diagnosis

If you do not hear the warning sound, or the buzzer sounds intermittently when shifting into R (Reverse), there may be a malfunction in the rear parking distance warning system. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.
