WARNING
- To receive maximum protection from the restraint system, seat belts must always be used whenever the vehicle is in motion.
- Seat belts are most effective when the seatbacks are in an upright position.
- Children under 12 years of age must always be properly secured in a rear seat. Never allow children to ride in the front seat. When a child aged 12 must ride in the front seat, the child must be properly belted and the seat must be moved as far back as possible.
- Never place the shoulder belt under your arm or behind your back. An incorrectly positioned shoulder belt may cause serious injury in an accident. The shoulder belt must be positioned across the center of the shoulder and run over the collarbone.
- Never fasten the seat belt over fragile objects. In the event of a sudden stop or collision, the seat belt may strike and damage such objects.
- Avoid wearing the belt twisted. A twisted belt may not perform its function. In a collision, it may even cause cuts. Make sure the belt runs straight and is not twisted.
- Make sure that neither the belt webbing nor other parts of the seat belt are damaged. If the webbing or any other seat belt component is damaged, have the seat belt replaced.
WARNING
Seat belts are designed to apply force to the bony structure of the body. Therefore, the belts must be routed so that they run low across the pelvis, chest and shoulders. Avoid routing the lap belt across the abdomen.
Seat belts must be adjusted to be as snug as possible while still comfortable, so that they can perform their protective function.
A belt that is too loose loses a significant part of its protective effect for the occupant.
Make sure the belt webbing does not come into contact with polish, oil, chemicals, and especially battery acid.
To clean seat belts, use only a mild detergent (such as soap) and water. If the belt is worn, dirty, or damaged, replace it.
It is important that the complete seat belt be replaced when it has been subjected to a severe collision, even if no damage is visible externally. Belts must not be twisted. A seat belt may only be used by one person. It is dangerous to place a child on your lap while wearing the belt.
WARNING
- Do not make any modifications to the seat belt system and do not attach anything to the seat belt. Anything attached to the belt may prevent it from being fastened properly or may restrict the belt so that it does not function correctly.
- When fastening the seat belt, make sure you do not insert the buckle tongue into the buckle of another seat. This is very dangerous, as you will then not be protected by the seat belt.
- Do not loosen the seat belt while driving, and do not fasten and unfasten the seat belt several times while driving. You could lose control of the vehicle. This may be fatal or cause serious injury or property damage.
- When fastening the seat belt, check that the belt does not run over objects and is not easily damaged.
- Make sure no foreign objects are in the buckle. Otherwise the seat belt may not latch correctly.
Seat Belt Warning Light: Driver's Seat / Front Passenger Seat (if equipped)

Reminder: The driver and front passenger seat belt warning lights illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is switched on, regardless of whether the seat belts are fastened or not.
If the driver's or front passenger's seat belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched on, or after the ignition is switched on again, the corresponding unfastened seat belt warning light remains on until the seat belt is fastened.
If the seat belt is still not fastened after the vehicle has been driven for more than 9 km/h, the warning light starts to flash.
If the seat belt is still not fastened after the vehicle has been driven for more than 20 km/h, a warning chime sounds for approximately 100 seconds and the corresponding indicator flashes.
When the vehicle speed drops below 20 km/h after the seat belt has been unfastened, the seat belt warning light illuminates until the seat belt is fastened.
WARNING
If a passenger is not seated correctly, the Seat Belt Reminder System may not operate correctly. It is important that the driver instructs passengers to sit properly as described in this manual.
NOTICE
- You will find the front passenger seat belt warning light in the center instrument panel.
- Even if the front passenger seat is not occupied, the Front Passenger Seat Belt Reminder light flashes or stays on for approximately 6 seconds.
- The front passenger seat belt warning message may activate when the ignition is turned on and luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.
Rear Seat Belt Reminder Light (if equipped)

When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position (engine not running), the rear seat passengers' lap and shoulder belts are not fastened, and the corresponding seat belt reminder light illuminates.
The rear seat belt reminder light then flashes for approximately 35 seconds when one of the following situations occurs:
- You start the engine without the rear seat belt fastened.
- You drive faster than 9 km/h without the rear seat belt fastened.
- The rear seat belt is not fastened and you drive at a speed below 20 km/h.
Once the rear seat belt is fastened, the indicator light goes off immediately.
If the rear seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h, the corresponding Seat Belt Reminder Light flashes for 35 seconds and an audible warning sounds at the same time.
However, if the rear seat belt buckle is latched and unlatched twice within 9 seconds after the warning has started, the corresponding seat belt reminder light will not function.

Adjust the height (front seats, if equipped)

You can adjust the shoulder belt anchor to one of 3 positions for comfort and safety.
Be careful when adjusting the belt height so that it is not too close to your neck. The belt height should be set so that the shoulder belt crosses your chest near the center of your shoulder, not near your neck.
Adjust the height to the appropriate position near the shoulder belt anchor. To raise the anchor, pull it up (1). To lower it, press it down (3) while holding the height adjustment button (2).
Release the button to lock the anchor in position. Try to move the anchor to make sure it is locked in place.
Improperly adjusted belts may cause serious injury in an accident.
WARNING
- Make sure the anchor is locked at the desired height. The shoulder belt should never be positioned above your neck or face.
- If seat belts have been subjected to a crash, they may be damaged and will not provide protection in a subsequent impact, which may result in injury or death. Replace seat belts as soon as possible after an accident.
To fasten the seat belt:

To fasten the seat belt, pull the belt webbing from the retractor and insert the tongue (1) into the buckle (2). A click indicates the tongue is locked in the buckle.
The three-point seat belt automatically adjusts the length of the lap belt after you have manually adjusted it so that it fits comfortably over your hips. If you lean forward slowly and smoothly, the belt extends so you can move freely. In a sudden stop or collision, the belt remains locked in place. The belt also locks when you lean forward quickly.
NOTICE
If the seat belt cannot be pulled out of the retractor, pull the belt firmly and release it. After that, you can pull the belt out of the retractor slightly.

WARNING
Position the lap belt as low and snug as possible across your hips, not above your waist. If the lap belt rides too high above your waist, the risk of injury in a collision increases. Do not hold both hands above or at the same time on the belt; one hand should be above and one hand below the belt as shown in the illustration.
Never wear the belt so that it runs under your arm on the door side.

For proper restraint, the seat belt tongue must be fully inserted into the buckle, and the seat cushion must be engaged.
❈ A: Rear Right Seat Belt Buckle
B: Rear Center Seat Belt Buckle
C: Rear Left Seat Belt Buckle

If the rear center seat belt is to be used, the buckle marked "CENTER" must be used.
DANGER
Do not connect the left or right seat belt to the center buckle. Make sure you use the rear center seat belt with this center buckle. Otherwise, the system cannot function properly and the seat belt with the buckle will not provide any protection.
Rear Center Seat Belt:

Pull out the metal tab (3) and insert it into the buckle (4). A click indicates the tongue is locked in the buckle. Make sure the seat belt is not twisted. When fastening the rear center seat belt, the buckle must be the one marked "CENTER".
Unfastening the Seat Belt:

To unfasten the belt, press the release button (A) on the buckle. When the buckle is opened, the belt webbing retracts automatically into the retractor.
If the belt does not retract, make sure the webbing is not twisted, then try again to allow the seat belt to retract.
Stowing the Rear Seat Belt

The rear seat belt buckles can be stowed in the pockets between the rear seatback and the seat cushion when not in use.
