Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)
The Emergency Stop Signal system warns the driver behind by flashing the brake lights when the vehicle brakes suddenly and strongly.
The system is activated when:
- The vehicle stops suddenly (vehicle speed exceeds 55 km/h and vehicle deceleration exceeds 7 m/s²).
- ABS is activated
When the vehicle speed drops below 40 km/h and ABS is deactivated or the sudden stop situation ends, the brake lights stop flashing. Instead, the hazard warning flasher will automatically turn on.
The hazard warning flasher will turn off when the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h after the vehicle has stopped. It will also turn off when the vehicle has been driven at low speed for some time. You can turn it off manually by pressing the hazard warning flasher switch.
CAUTION
The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) system will not operate if the hazard warning flasher is already on.
