System Setting and Activation
System Settings
• The driver can activate FCA by turning the ignition switch to the ON position and selecting:
"User Settings" → "Driver Assistance" → "Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist". The FCA system is deactivated when the driver cancels the system setting.

When the FCA system is turned off, the warning light illuminates on the LCD display. The driver can check the FCA ON/OFF status on the LCD display. In addition, the warning light illuminates when ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off. If the warning light remains illuminated while the FCA system is activated, have the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
- The driver can select the timing of the initial forward collision warning on the LCD display. Select User Settings → Driver Assistance → Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist → Early/Normal/Late.
The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) initial warning timing options are as follows:
- EARLY – When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated earlier than usual. This setting maximizes the distance from the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is given. If the EARLY setting seems too sensitive, change it to NORMAL.
- NORMAL – When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated at the normal timing. This setting reduces the distance from the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is given, compared to the EARLY setting.
- LATE – When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated later than usual. This setting further reduces the distance from the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is given. Select this setting only when traffic is light and you are driving at low speed.
Activation Conditions
FCA is ready to be activated when FCA is selected on the LCD display and the following conditions are met.
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is activated.
- Vehicle speed is above 8 km/h. (FCA is activated only within a specific speed range.)
- The system detects a vehicle or pedestrian ahead that may collide with your vehicle. (FCA may not activate or may give a warning depending on the road situation or vehicle condition.)
❈ FCA may not operate properly depending on the position, direction, and speed of the pedestrian ahead.
WARNING
- Completely stop the vehicle in a safe location before using the switch on the steering wheel to turn the FCA system on/off.
- FCA is automatically activated when the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position. The driver can deactivate FCA by changing the system settings on the LCD display. To avoid driver distraction, do not attempt to set or cancel FCA while driving.
- FCA is automatically deactivated when ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off. When ESC is turned off, FCA cannot be activated. The FCA warning light will illuminate, but this does not indicate a system malfunction.
