Description and Operation

Description

The air conditioner pressure sensor (APT) measures the high-pressure line pressure and converts it into a voltage value. Based on the converted voltage value, the engine ECM controls the cooling fan operation at high or low speed. The engine ECM stops compressor operation when the refrigerant line temperature is too high or too low to optimize the air conditioning system.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Measure the high-side line pressure by measuring the output voltage between terminals "1" and "2".

  2. Check the voltage value to determine whether it is within specification.

    Voltage = 0.00878835 * Pressure + 0.37081095

  3. If the measured voltage value does not meet the specification, replace the air conditioner pressure sensor (transducer).

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Recover the refrigerant using a recovery/recharging station.

  3. Remove the air conditioner pressure sensor (A) by disconnecting the sensor connector.

    Tightening torque: 10~12 N·m
