Repair Procedures

Removal

  1. Remove the wheel nuts, front wheel and tire from the front hub.

    Tightening torque: 107.9–128 N·m

  2. Unstake the drive shaft hub nut lock by tapping a chisel with a hammer.

  3. Remove the staked nut (A) from the front axle.

    Tightening torque: 274.6–294 N·m

  4. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts, then hang the brake caliper assembly (A) with wire.

    Tightening torque: 78.4–98 N·m

  5. Remove the brake hose bracket bolt (A) and the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (B).

    Tightening torque:

    A: 8,8–13.7 N·m

    B: 7,8–11.8 N·m

  6. Disconnect the tie rod end ball joint from the steering knuckle using SST (09568-34000).

    1. Remove the cotter pin (A).

    2. Remove the castellated nut (B).

    3. Use SST (09568-34000).

      Tightening torque: 15.7–33 N·m

  7. Remove the lower arm bolt and nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 58.8–71 N·m

  8. Remove the front lower arm from the front steering knuckle using SST (0K545-A9100).

    1. After removing the bolts from the front steering knuckle, install and tighten the body bolt (A).

    2. Insert the auxiliary body (B) between the front knuckle and the auxiliary body bolt.

    3. Tighten the auxiliary body bolt (C) to increase the clearance of the front joint.

    4. Install the safety wire (A).

    5. Install the main body (A) between the front strut and the lower arm.

    6. To prevent the main body from separating, install the locking clamp (A) next to the main body.

    7. After installing the body (A), turn the handle (B) clockwise to secure it to the lower arm with the clamp.

    8. Slowly tighten the main body bolt (A) and separate the lower arm from the front joint.

  9. Loosen the bolts and remove the strut assembly (A) from the steering knuckle.

    Tightening torque: 98.0–118 N·m

Inspection

  1. Check the hub for cracks and worn splines.

  2. Check the brake disc for scratches and damage.

  3. Inspect the knuckle for cracks.

  4. Check the bearing for cracks or damage.

Disassembly
