Removal and Installation

Front Muffler

  1. Disconnect the rear oxygen sensor (A).

  2. Remove the hanger (A).

  3. Remove the front muffler (B).

    Torque: 39.2 – 59 N·m

  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Catalytic Converter and Center Muffler

  1. Remove the rubber insulator (A).

  2. Remove the catalytic converter and center muffler (B).

    Torque: 39.2 – 59 N·m

  3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Rear Muffler

  1. Remove the rubber insulator (A).

  2. Remove the rear muffler (B).

    Torque: 39.2 – 59 N·m

  3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Center Muffler Replacement Procedure Using Clamp

Under warranty: Replace the center muffler assembly.

Not under warranty: The center muffler can be replaced according to the procedure below.

  1. Make sure the clamping portion of the center muffler assembly is not damaged or deformed.

If the muffler is too corroded to clamp, replace the center muffler assembly.

  2. Record the clearance (A) between the tailpipe (or tail trim) and the rear bumper.

  3. Remove the rubber insulator (A) from the center muffler.

  4. Remove the catalytic converter and center muffler (B).

  5. Cut the center muffler as shown below.

    - Cut the front groove of the muffler.

    [Muffler Replacement]

    - Cut the rear groove of the replacement muffler.

  6. Install the center muffler.

    1. Install the catalytic converter (A) and center muffler (B) for replacement, tightening the nuts slightly, not fully.

    2. Place the clamp (A) between the cut ends of each pipe and tighten the clamp slightly, not fully.

    3. Tighten the catalytic converter and center muffler to the specified torque.

      Torque: 39.2 – 59 N·m

    4. Compare the clearance between the tailpipe (or tail trim) and the rear bumper with the measurement recorded before removing the center muffler assembly.

    5. Do not tighten the clamp all at once. Tighten the clamp nuts to the specified torque, alternating evenly.

      Torque: 17.6 – 24 N·m
