Brake Warning Light |
This light has the following functions:Parking Brake Warning Light/Lamp CheckThe light comes on when the parking brake is applied and the ignition switch is in the START or ON position. It goes off when the parking brake is released. Low Brake Fluid LevelIf the light remains on after the parking brake is fully released, there may be a problem in the brake system or the brake fluid level may be too low. Stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately and consult a specialist service; we recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer. WARNINGDo not drive when the brake warning light is on. Contact a specialist service to have the brake system inspected as soon as possible. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer. Driving with the brake warning light on is dangerous. The brakes may fail and stop working at any time. If the light comes on after the parking brake is released, have the brake system inspected immediately. CAUTIONFurthermore, braking efficiency may deteriorate, so more force than usual may be required on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. |
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) Warning Light |
If the electronic brake force distribution control module detects that some system components are malfunctioning, it may turn on the brake warning light and the ABS warning light at the same time. The problem is most likely in the electronic brake force distribution system.WARNINGDo not continue driving when the ABS and brake warning lights are on at the same time. Have the vehicle transported by flatbed tow truck to a specialist service to have the brake system inspected as soon as possible. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer. Driving with the brake and ABS warning lights on at the same time is dangerous. When both lights are on, the rear wheels may lock up during sudden braking sooner than normal. |
Battery Charging Warning Light |
If this warning light comes on while driving, it indicates a malfunction of the alternator or the charging system. |
CAUTION
Do not continue driving when the charging system warning light is on, as the engine may stop unexpectedly.
Engine Oil Warning LightCAUTION
Do not start the engine when oil pressure is too low. Otherwise, serious engine damage may result.
If this light or warning comes on while driving: 1. Pull off the road and park on level ground.
2. Stop the engine and wait 5 minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
3. Check the engine oil level 6-28. If it is too low, add oil, but do not overfill.
CAUTION
Do not start the engine when the oil level is too low. Otherwise, serious engine damage may result.
4. Start the engine and check whether the light has gone off.
If the warning light stays on even though the oil level is normal, or after topping up the oil, stop the engine immediately and tow the vehicle to a qualified workshop. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
(Red) Engine Coolant Temperature High Warning Light
Procedure
Indicator flashes
Drive slowly to reduce the engine load until you find a safe place to stop the vehicle and let the engine cool down.
Light is on
This indicates the engine may be overheating. Park the vehicle in a safe place immediately and stop the engine.
See "Engine Overheating" on page 7-28.
CAUTION
Do not drive the vehicle with the engine coolant temperature warning light on. Otherwise, the engine may be damaged.
Power Steering Malfunction Warning Light
If this light comes on/flashes, stop the vehicle in a safe place and do not turn the steering wheel.
The problem does not exist if this light goes off after a while. If this light stays on or flashes, contact a specialist service; we recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer.CAUTION
- If the warning light comes on/flashes, power steering will not operate correctly. You can still move the steering wheel, but it may feel heavier than usual and you may feel vibration when turning it.
- Repeatedly jerking the steering wheel left and right while the vehicle is stationary or moving very slowly will activate the power steering fail-safe mode. The driver will then need to apply a large amount of force to turn the steering wheel. This does not mean the system is faulty.
If this occurs, park the vehicle safely and wait a few minutes until the system returns to normal operation.
