Advanced keyless entry system

~2min read

WARNING

Radio waves emitted by the key may interfere with the operation of medical equipment, for example

a pacemaker: Before using the key near people who use medical equipment, ask the equipment manufacturer or your doctor whether the radio waves emitted by the transmitter may interfere with the operation of that equipment.

The advanced keyless entry system allows you to lock/unlock the doors and tailgate, or open the tailgate, while carrying the key.

The warning lights or warning chimes shown below indicate a malfunction of the system or give a warning.

  • KEY warning light (red). See "Warning/Indicator Lights" on page 4-40.
  • Ignition switch warning buzzer when the ignition switch is in a position other than Off. See “Ignition switch not in Off (STOP) position warning” on page 7-48.
  • Key left in vehicle warning chime. See "Key Left in Vehicle Warning Chime" on page 7-48.
  • Request switch malfunction warning. See “Request switch malfunction warning” (with advanced keyless entry system) on page 7-48.
  • Key left in luggage compartment warning. See “Key left in luggage compartment warning” (with advanced keyless entry system) on page 7-49.
  • Key left in vehicle warning. See “Key left in vehicle warning” (with advanced keyless entry system) on page 7-49.

CAUTION

The advanced keyless entry system functions can be turned off to avoid any adverse effect on users of cardiac pacemakers and other medical equipment. If the system is turned off, you will not be able to start the engine when the key is within operating range. For details, consult a specialist service workshop; we recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer. If you have turned off the advanced keyless entry system, you can start the engine using the procedure for starting when the key battery is discharged.

See "Starting the Engine When the Key Battery Is Discharged" on page 4-11.
