Recommended oil
To follow the periodic maintenance schedule (page 6-3) and protect the engine from damage caused by insufficient lubrication, it is extremely important to use engine oil of the correct specification. Do not use oils that do not meet the specifications or requirements below. Using an incorrect oil may cause engine damage that is not covered by the Mazda Warranty.
Europe

(SKYACTIV-D 1.5)

Outside Europe
(SKYACTIV-G 1.3 and SKYACTIV-G 1.5 LP)

*1 LP: Low-Power *2 In African countries, for SKYACTIV-G 1.3 and SKYACTIV-G 1.5 LP (low-power) engines, use engine oil of class SL or higher.
(SKYACTIV-G 1.5 MP and SKYACTIV-G 1.5 HP)

*1 MP: Medium-Power *2 HP: High-Power
(SKYACTIV-D 1.5)

Engine oil viscosity or density affects fuel economy and engine performance at low temperatures (starting and oil flow).
Low-viscosity engine oil improves fuel economy and performance at low temperatures.
When selecting oil before an oil change, take into account the temperature range in which the vehicle will be operated.
Then select the viscosity grade of oil from the table above.
CAUTION
- Using oils with a viscosity other than the one recommended for specific temperature ranges may cause engine damage.
- (SKYACTIV-D 1.5) The SKYACTIV-D 1.5 requires a strictly specified engine oil. Confirm the specification in the owner's manual. If you use an oil other than the one required, the service life of the diesel particulate filter may be shortened or the filter may be damaged.
CAUTION
(SKYACTIV-G 1.3 and SKYACTIV-G 1.5)
Under normal driving conditions, all engines consume engine oil.
Engine oil consumption may be up to 0.8 l/1000 km. This may be caused by evaporation, internal ventilation, and combustion of engine oil during engine operation. Oil consumption may be higher when the engine is new, as a result of the engine break-in process. Oil consumption also depends on engine speed and load. Under extreme driving conditions, engine oil consumption may be higher.
(SKYACTIV-D 1.5)
After each engine oil change, the oil parameters stored in the engine control module must be reset as soon as possible.
Otherwise, the maintenance reminder indicator or the engine oil warning light may come on. To reset the oil parameters stored in the engine control module, refer to the reset procedure on page 6-27 or consult a specialist workshop.
We recommend an authorized Mazda dealer.
Check the engine oil level regularly. If, during the check, the engine oil level is above the "X" mark on the dipstick, replace the oil. To do this, consult a specialist workshop; we recommend an Authorised Mazda Service Centre. When changing the oil, check its level using the dipstick and top up until the engine oil level is between the Full and Low marks, as shown in the illustration.
