Tyres
For safety, fuel economy and optimum performance, maintain the recommended tire pressure and observe the recommended load limits and load distribution.
WARNING
Using different tire types: Driving with different types of tires is dangerous.
This may cause poor handling and braking, and may lead to loss of vehicle control.
Except for temporary limited use of the spare tire, use only tires of the same type (radial, bias-belted, bias-ply) on all four wheels.
Using tires of incorrect size: Using tires other than those specified for your vehicle (see page 9-10) is a safety hazard. It may cause a serious deterioration of ride comfort and handling, reduced ground clearance, and incorrect speedometer readings. This may cause an accident. Use only tires of the correct size specified for your vehicle.
Tire pressure
WARNING
Always inflate tires to the required pressure: Tire pressure that is too high or too low is a safety hazard.
Improper tire handling or a sudden tire puncture may cause a serious accident.
See "Tires" on page 9-10.
Use only genuine Mazda valve caps: Using non-genuine valve caps is dangerous, because valves damaged by them will not hold the required tire pressure. If the vehicle is driven in these conditions, tire pressure will drop, which may cause an accident. Do not use valve caps other than genuine Mazda valve caps.
Check the pressure in all tires (including the spare tire*) once a month, when the tires are cold.
Maintain the required pressure for better vehicle handling and minimum tire wear.
Follow the specifications in the table (see page 9-10).
(With tire pressure monitoring system)
After adjusting the tire pressure, the tire pressure monitoring system must be activated for it to operate correctly.
See "Activating the Tire Pressure Monitoring System" on page 4-147.
CAUTION
Always check the pressure when the tire is cold.
Pressure in heated tires exceeds the specified values. Do not release air from a heated tire.
Low pressure affects fuel consumption, causes uneven and accelerated tire wear, reduces tire grip, and may deform the wheel and separate the tire from the rim.
High pressure leads to poorer handling, uneven and accelerated tire wear, and damage from road irregularities.
Keep tire pressure at the correct values. A tire that frequently needs inflating should be checked.
