Towing Guidelines
We recommend that towing be performed only by a qualified service workshop. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer or a professional towing company.
Proper lifting and towing of the vehicle will prevent damage to it.
Observe the applicable local regulations.
When towing the vehicle, the driven (front) wheels should be lifted off the road surface. If damage or other conditions prevent this, use a dolly under the wheels.

When towing the vehicle with the rear wheels on the road, release the parking brake.
CAUTION
- Do not tow the vehicle backward with the drive wheels on the road. This may cause internal damage to the transmission.

- Do not tow the vehicle using a crane-type vehicle. This may damage your vehicle. Use a vehicle with a boom or a flatbed.

If towing by a towing service is not possible in an emergency, the vehicle may be towed on all four wheels using the tow hook located at the front of the vehicle.
The vehicle may be towed on paved surfaces over short distances, at low speed.
CAUTION
- When towing the vehicle on all four wheels, follow these instructions.
- Place the gear shift lever in neutral (manual transmission) or N (automatic transmission).
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
- Release the parking brake.
Note that power steering and power brake assist do not operate when the engine is off.
