WARNING
Always make sure the hood is closed and properly latched:
A hood that is not closed and properly latched is dangerous because it may open while the vehicle is being driven and block the driver's view, which may cause a serious accident.
Opening the hood
- Pull the hood release handle to unlatch the hood.

- Slide your hand into the hood opening, push the latch lever to the right, and lift the hood.

NOTE
The lever is located slightly to the left of center when facing the vehicle.
- Grasp the support rod at the rubber portion and insert it into the hole in the support rod indicated by the arrow to hold the hood open.

Closing the hood
- Check under the hood that all filler caps are in place and that all loose items (for example, tools, oil containers, etc.) have been removed.
- Lift the hood, grasp the rubber portion of the support rod, and secure the support rod in its clip.

- Lower the hood slowly to about 20 cm (7.9 in.) above the closed position, then let it drop.
WARNING
When closing the hood, do not push down on it hard, such as by putting your body weight on it. Otherwise the hood may be deformed.
