Engine oil changes should be performed by an authorized Mazda dealer.

Refer to the introduction (page 6-2) for information on the owner's responsibility for protecting your investment.

Recommended Engine Oil

United States and Canada

Use SAE 0W-20 engine oil.

Use genuine Mazda oil in your Mazda vehicle. Genuine Mazda 0W-20 oil is recommended for optimal fuel economy.

For service, Mazda recommends genuine Mazda parts and Castrol (United States only).

Etats-Unis et Canada

Use only SAE 0W-20 oil "certified for gasoline engines" by the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Oil displaying this mark meets the current engine protection and emission control system standards, as well as the fuel economy requirements, of the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC), which includes Japanese and American automakers.

Etats-Unis et Canada

Except United States and Canada

Use SAE 5W-30 engine oil.

The labels on engine oil containers contain important information.

They improve fuel economy by reducing the amount of fuel consumed by engine friction.

For service, Mazda recommends genuine Mazda parts and Castrol (Mexico only).

Excepté aux Etats-Unis et au Canada

(Mexico)

Use SAE 5W-30 engine oil. If SAE 5W-30 engine oil is not available, use SAE 5W-20 engine oil.

The "SM" or "ILSAC" quality designation must be shown on the label.

Excepté aux Etats-Unis et au Canada

Checking the Engine Oil Level

  1. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface.
  2. Warm up the engine until it reaches its normal operating temperature.
  3. Stop the engine and wait at least 5 minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
  4. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.
    Vérification du niveau d'huile moteur

  1. Remove the dipstick again and check the level.

The level is normal if it is between the "Full" and "Low" marks.

If the level is at or below "Low", add enough oil to bring the level to "Full".

WARNING

Do not exceed the "Full" level.

Doing so may damage the engine.

  1. Make sure the O-ring on the dipstick is seated correctly before reinserting the dipstick.
  2. Reinsert the dipstick fully.
