The air bag warning lighttableau de bord,, which appears on the
instrument panel, monitors the circuits of the air bag systems, the pretensioners and all related wiring.

When the ignition switch is turned to the ON or START position, the air bag light comes on for about seven seconds, then goes off. This indicates that the system is operational.

If any of the following conditions occur, the front air bags, side air bags, side curtain air bags and pretensioners must be serviced:

  • The air bag warning light stays on after the initial period of about seven seconds.
  • The air bag warning light flashes intermittently.
  • The air bag warning light does not come on at all.

Under these conditions, the front air bag, side air bag, side curtain air bag and seat belt pretensioner systems may not operate properly. The seat belts must be inspected and repaired. Take your vehicle to the nearest NISSAN dealer.

WARNING

The air bag warning light coming on may indicate that the front air bag, side air bag, side curtain air bag and seat belt pretensioner systems will not operate in an accident.

To prevent potential injury to occupants, take your vehicle to a NISSAN dealer as soon as possible.

Repair and replacement method

The front air bags, side air bags, side curtain air bags and pretensioners are designed to deploy only once. As a reminder, unless damaged, the air bag warning light stays on after any of these devices has been activated. Repair and replacement of the air bag systems must be performed only by a NISSAN dealer.

Make sure that the person performing service on the vehicle is informed of the presence of the front air bags, side air bags, side curtain air bags, pretensioners and related components. The ignition key must always be in the LOCK position while working in the engine compartment or in the passenger compartment.

WARNING

  • When a front air bag, side air bag or side curtain air bag has deployed, the air bag module no longer functions and must be replaced. In addition, any pretensioners that have been activated must also be replaced. The air bag module and pretensioners must be replaced by a NISSAN dealer. The air bag module and pretensioners cannot be repaired.
  • If the front or side of the vehicle has been damaged, the front air bag, side air bag, side curtain air bag and pretensioner systems must be inspected by a NISSAN dealer.
  • If you need to dispose of an air bag or seat belt pretensioner, or if the vehicle is to be recycled, contact a NISSAN dealer. Using an incorrect disposal method may cause injury.
