Neutral Position Switch

GENERAL INFORMATION

Switch location The switch (fitted only on vehicles with a catalytic converter) is screwed into the bottom of the transmission case on the right side.

Inspection, Removal and Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the connector at the top of the case and check the circuit between the switch terminals.

2. The switch contacts must be closed only when the lever is in neutral.

3. If not, inspect the wiring.

4. If the wiring is good, replace the switch.

5. To remove the switch, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands. Drain the oil from the transmission.

6. Disconnect the switch connector from the harness side.

7. Unscrew the switch.

8. Clean the case threads and apply sealant to the threads of the new switch.

9. Screw in the switch.

10. Tighten the switch and connect the connector.

11. Lower the vehicle and fill the transmission with oil.
