GENERAL INFORMATION

BATTERY Some vehicles are equipped with maintenance-free batteries.

STARTER Some vehicles are fitted with starters with a planetary gear reduction.

Precautions: Do not reverse the polarity of power supplies to various instruments and electrical equipment, to avoid damaging semiconductor components.

Do not disconnect or connect the battery, measuring instruments, or any wires while the engine is running.

Do not check the alternator operation by grounding the output terminal.

Do not check circuits with a hand-cranked ohmmeter (megohmmeter).

When working on electrical equipment or before welding, disconnect the battery from ground.

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure you know the security code for the radio, as its operation will be disrupted.
