Reverse Light Switch

GENERAL INFORMATION

Switch location The plunger-type switch is screwed into the bottom of the transmission case on the left side.

Inspection, Removal and Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Before testing the switch, make sure the fuse is intact.

2. Disconnect the connector at the top of the case and check the circuit between the switch terminals.

3. The switch contacts must be closed only when the lever is in neutral.

4. If not, inspect the wiring.

5. If the wiring is good, replace the switch.

6. To remove the switch, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands. Drain the oil from the transmission.

7. Locate and disconnect the switch connector from the harness side.

8. Remove the switch.

9. Clean the case thread and apply sealant to the thread of the new switch.

10. Install the switch.

11. Tighten the switch and connect the connector.

12. Lower the vehicle and fill the transmission with oil.
