Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the center section of the instrument panel.

2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.

3. Disconnect the shift rod spring.

4. Remove the nuts and pull out the shaft bolts from the transmission side and the lever side.

5. Disconnect the rod from the transmission bracket, remove the nuts, disconnect the rod bracket from the floor pan, and remove the rod with the bracket.

6. Remove the clip, take out the shift lever, and remove the small boot at the base of the lever.

7. If necessary, remove the nuts, remove the boot frame, take out the clip and remove the boot.

8. Check the condition of all parts, especially the shaft bushings and rod joint. Replace worn boots.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install in the reverse order.

2. Apply multipurpose grease to the bushings and the rod shaft.

3. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
