Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the transmission (refer to subsection 9.1).

2. Remove the release bearing by disengaging the clips.

3. Drive out the pins (indicated by arrows) and remove the release fork from the shaft.

4. Mark the spring orientation, then remove the lever, fork and spring.

Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Check the condition of all parts. Replace worn parts.

2. Drive out the shaft bushing and replace it.

3. Replace the release bearing at the first sign of damage.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Apply high-melting-point grease to the friction surfaces of the shaft.

2. Install the fork lever in position.

3. Install the fork and spring, then push the lever in as far as it will go.

4. Align the fork holes and press in new pins.

5. Install the clips (indicated by arrows) and lightly lubricate the shaft and bearing.

6. Install the bearing so that the clips engage the fork.

7. Check that the fork moves freely on the shaft.

8. Install the transmission.
