Deactivating and activating the front passenger airbag
Deactivating the front passenger airbags (for vehicles so equipped)

To be able to install a child seat on the front passenger seat, you must deactivate the supplementary devices to the front passenger seat belt.

To deactivate the airbags: vehicle stationary, ignition off, push and turn lock 1 to the OFF position.
Ignition on, make sure the warning light
on display
2 is on and, depending on the vehicle, the message "Passenger airbag deactivated" is displayed.
This warning light stays on permanently to confirm that you can install a child seat.
The passenger airbag must be activated or deactivated with the vehicle stationary.
If the controls are operated while the vehicle is moving, the indicators
and
light up.
To restore the airbag status to match the lock position, switch the ignition off and then back on.

DANGER
Because the front passenger airbag deploying is incompatible with a rear-facing child seat, NEVER install a rear-facing child restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE front AIRBAG. This can cause the child's DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY.
The markings on the
dashboard and the labels A on each side of passenger sun visor 3 (as shown in the label above) remind you of these instructions.
Activating the front passenger airbags

As soon as you remove the child seat from the front passenger seat, reactivate the airbags to ensure protection of the front passenger in the event of a collision.

To reactivate the airbags: vehicle stationary, ignition off, push and turn lock 1 to the ON position.
Ignition on, make sure the warning light
is off and
the warning light on display 2 comes on for approximately
minute after each
start-up.
The supplementary devices to the front passenger seat belt are activated.
Operating faults
If there is a fault in the front passenger airbag on/off system, do not install a rearward-facing child seat on the front seat.
Installing any other passenger is not recommended.
Consult a brand representative as soon as possible.
The passenger airbag must be switched on or off with the vehicle
stopped.
If the controls are operated while the vehicle is moving, the å and
warning lights come on.
To restore the airbag status to match the lock position, switch the ignition off and then back on.
