Carrying a child
A child, like an adult, must sit correctly and be secured with a seat belt regardless of the length of the journey. The driver of the vehicle is responsible for the children being carried.
A child is not a small adult. They are exposed to specific injuries because their muscles and skeleton are still fully developing.
The safety belt is not designed for carrying a child. Use an appropriate child seat for the child and use it correctly.
To prevent the doors from being opened, use the "Child safety" function (see the "Opening and closing the doors" section in Chapter 1). A collision at a speed of 50 km/h is equivalent to a fall from a height of 10 m. Failing to fasten a child's seat belt carries the same risk as leaving them playing on a fourth-floor balcony without a railing! Never hold a child on your lap. In the event of an accident, it is impossible to hold on to a child, even if you are wearing your seat belt.If the vehicle has been involved in a road accident, replace the child seat and have the seat belts and ISOFIX anchorages checked.
Driver's responsibility when stopping or parking the vehicle Never leave the vehicle unattended, even for a very short time, with a child, disabled person or animal inside. They could endanger themselves or others by starting the engine, operating equipment such as the window lifts, or locking the door locks. Also note that in hot and/or very sunny weather, the temperature inside the cabin rises very quickly.RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
