Seat belt pretensioners
In this manual: Getting to know your vehicle
~1min read

The pretensioners keep the belt snug against the passenger's body and press the passenger back into the seat, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the restraint.
With the ignition on, in the event of a severe frontal impact and depending on the force of the impact, the system may activate seat belt retractor pretensioner 1, which immediately tightens the belt.
- After an accident, have the operation of the safety systems checked.
- Do not carry out any repairs or modifications to the system yourself (seat belt pretensioners, airbags, electronic modules, wiring), and do not use its components in other vehicles, even identical ones.
- To avoid unexpected activation of the system and the resulting damage, note that only an Authorised Brand Partner is entitled to repair seat belt pretensioners and airbags.
- Checking the individual electrical parameters of the system's igniter may only be carried out by suitably trained personnel using specialist equipment.
- When the vehicle is scrapped, contact an Authorised Brand Partner to have the gas generators of the seat belt pretensioners and airbags deactivated.
Force limiter
In a particularly severe impact, this device stretches slightly, which limits the force the belt exerts on the body.
