Starting and stopping the engine
Starting the engine

Starting the engine
Petrol versions
- Operate the starter without accelerating;
- release the key as soon as the engine starts.

Diesel versions
- Turn the ignition key to the "Ignition on" M position and hold it there until the engine preheating warning light goes out;
- turn the key to the "Start" D position without accelerating;
- release the key as soon as the engine starts.
Special case: when starting the engine in very low outside temperatures (below –10 °C): keep the clutch pedal depressed until the engine starts.
Switching off the engine
With the engine idling, turn the key to the "Stop" ST position.
! Driver's responsibilityNever leave your vehicle with the key inside and a child (or animal) in it, even for a short time.
This is because it could start the vehicle or operate electrical equipment (window lifters...) and risk trapping a part of the body (neck, arm, hand...).
Risk of serious injury.
Never switch off the ignition before the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Stopping the engine causes the loss of assistance: brakes, steering... and of passive safety devices such as airbags and pretensioners.
