Wheel change

Switch on the hazard warning lights.
Park the vehicle clear of traffic on level, non-slip, firm ground.
Apply the parking brake and engage a gear (first or reverse, or P for automatic gearboxes).
Have all occupants get out of the vehicle and keep them away from the traffic area.
Vehicles fitted with jack and wheel brace
If necessary, remove the wheel trim.
Loosen the wheel bolts using wheel brace 3. Position it so that you can apply pressure to it.
Position jack 4 horizontally, with the jack head at the body reinforcement 1 nearest to the affected wheel, marked by arrow 2.
If the vehicle is not equipped with the jack, wheel brace, etc., you can obtain them from a Renault dealer.
If you park on the side of the road, you must warn other road users of your vehicle's presence using a warning triangle or other devices required by the local legislation of the country where you are.
Start turning the jack by hand to position its base correctly (slightly inserted under the vehicle).
Turn the crank a few times until the wheel lifts off the ground.
To avoid any risk of injury or damage to the vehicle, raise the jack until the wheel to be replaced is no more than 3 centimetres off the ground.
Remove the bolts and take off the wheel.
Fit the spare wheel onto the central hub and turn it so that the fixing holes of the wheel and hub line up.
If bolts are supplied with the spare wheel, use these bolts only for the spare wheel.
Tighten the bolts, making sure the wheel seats correctly against the hub, then lower the jack.
With the wheel on the ground, tighten the bolts firmly and have the tightening torque checked as soon as possible: tightening torque 130 N.m (tightening torque for vehicles with rear steering wheels: 145 N.m).
Anti-theft boltIf you use anti-theft bolts, fit them as close to the valve as possible (otherwise the wheel trim may not fit).
In the event of a puncture, replace the wheel as soon as possible.
A punctured tyre must always be inspected by a specialist and repaired if possible.
Never leave tools loose in the vehicle: they may be thrown forward under braking. After use, be sure to return the tools to their holder, then position it correctly in its housing: risk of injury.
When wheel bolts are supplied, use these bolts only for the spare wheel: refer to the label on the spare wheel.
The jack is intended for wheel changes only. It must never be used to carry out a repair or to get under the vehicle.
