Towing
Before any towing, unlock the steering column: press the clutch pedal, engage first gear (selector in position N or R for automatic gearbox vehicles), insert the RENAULT card into the card reader, then press the engine start button for two seconds.
The steering column unlocks and the accessory functions are powered: you can use the vehicle lights (indicators, brake lights, etc.). At night the vehicle must be lit.
Once towing is complete, press the engine start button twice (risk of battery discharge).
It is imperative to comply with the regulations in force concerning towing.
If you are the towing vehicle, do not exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle (refer to the "Masses" section in chapter 6).
Do not remove the RENAULT card from the reader during towing.
Towing a vehicle with an automatic gearbox
With the engine off, the gearbox is no longer lubricated, so it is preferable to transport the vehicle on a flatbed truck or tow it with the front wheels raised.
In exceptional cases, you may tow it with all four wheels on the ground, in forward gear only, with the selector in neutral N and over a maximum distance of 50 km.

- Use a rigid towing bar. If a rope or cable is used (where permitted by law), the towed vehicle must be able to brake.
- Do not tow a vehicle whose roadworthiness is impaired.
- Avoid jerky acceleration and braking, which could damage the vehicle.
- In all cases, it is advisable not to exceed 25 km/h.

If the lever is locked in P while you press the brake pedal, the lever can be released manually. To do so, insert a rigid rod into hole 1, and press the rod and the release button on the gear lever knob at the same time.
Use only front towing eye 2 and rear towing eye 4 (never the transmission tubes or any other part of the vehicle). These towing eyes may only be used for towing. Under no circumstances may they be used to lift the vehicle, either directly or indirectly.
With the engine off, the power steering and brake assistance are no longer operational.

Access to the towing points
Unclip the cover to access towing eye 2 or 4, using the key built into the RENAULT card.
To refit, insert the cover into its housing, then clip it in place.
Fitting the towing eye
Screw in towing eye 3 as far as it will go: first by hand until it stops, then tighten fully using the wheel brace or, depending on the vehicle, the lever.
Use only towing eye 3 and the wheel brace or lever located under the luggage compartment floor in the tool holder (refer to the "Tools" section in chapter 5).
Never leave tools loose in the vehicle: risk of them being thrown forward during braking. After use, make sure the tools are clipped securely into the tool block, then, depending on the vehicle, position it correctly in its housing.
Risk of injury.
