Component replacement
ECU REPLACEMENT, PROGRAMMING OR REPROGRAMMING OPERATIONS
The system can be programmed or reprogrammed via the diagnostic socket using the RENAULT CLIP diagnostic tool (see Technical Note 3585A or follow the instructions provided by the diagnostic tool).
Throughout the ECU (re)programming, the engine relays are switched on automatically (check the battery condition, and if necessary provide a battery charger).
WARNING:- Switch on the diagnostic tool.
- Connect a battery charger (throughout the ECU (re)programming, the engine relays are switched on automatically).
- Observe the engine temperature limits given in the diagnostic tool before any (re)programming.
Before any programming, reprogramming or aftersales ECU replacement, save the following data in the diagnostic tool:
- The IQA (individual injector correction) parameters and the engine adaptive values, using command SC003 "save ECU data".
After any programming, reprogramming or ECU replacement:
- Switch off the ignition.
- Start then stop the engine (to initialise the ECU) and wait 30 seconds.
- Switch the ignition back on and use the diagnostic tool to carry out the following steps:
- Use command SC001 "write saved data" to restore the IQA and the engine adaptive values.
- Use command VP010 "Write VIN".
- Address any faults declared by the diagnostic tool. Clear the ECU memory.
- Carry out a road test followed by a further check with the diagnostic tool.
Note: If commands SC001 and SC003 were forgotten or do not work, after replacing or (re)programming the ECU, write the IQA of each injector manually by reading the IQA on each injector (see injector replacement).
WARNING
It is not possible to try an injection ECU from the parts store, as it can then no longer be fitted to any other vehicle.
INJECTOR REPLACEMENT:
NOTE: The IQA (individual injector correction) is a factory calibration carried out on each injector to precisely adjust the flow rate of each one.
These correction values are printed on a label on each injector and then entered into the ECU, which can then control each injector while taking into account its manufacturing variation.
The system can be parameterized through the diagnostic socket using the RENAULT CLIP diagnostic tool.
When replacing one or more injectors, update the C2I parameters. To do so, rewrite the C2I in the ECU using the following commands:
- Injector cylinder 1: command VP001 (cylinder on flywheel side)
- Injector cylinder 2: command VP002
- Injector cylinder 3: command VP003
- Injector cylinder 4: command VP004
It is also possible to enter all four C2I codes using command SC002 "INJECTOR CODE ENTRY".
Using the appropriate command, the technician can re-enter the new C2I of the replaced injector and overwrite the old C2I.
- Only after replacing at least 3 injectors at the same time, reset the injector adaptives using command RZ004 "Pressure regulation adaptives".
