Control panel: Operation
I - DESCRIPTION
The climate control is designed to provide occupants with stable and efficient comfort regardless of outside conditions and vehicle operating conditions.
It also ensures good visibility through the vehicle's glass surfaces.
This system is electronically controlled by a control unit integrated into the control panel.

II - OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Ambient comfort: automatic mode

Buttons (1) and (3) are supplemented by indicator lights (2) and (4):
- light on: the function is active,
- light off: the function is not active.
Automatic climate control is a system that maintains cabin comfort and a good level of visibility (except in extreme operating conditions).
Only the temperature and the "AUTO" symbol are displayed.
Functions controlled by automatic mode are not displayed.
Press button (6) to increase the temperature.
Press button (5) to decrease the temperature.
Note:- In automatic mode (the "AUTO" indicator is lit on the display), all air conditioning functions are controlled by the system.
- When a setting is changed, only the modified function is no longer controlled by automatic mode; however, the "AUTO" indicator goes off.
To reach and maintain the selected comfort level and maintain good visibility, the system controls:
- fan speed,
- airflow distribution,
- air recirculation control,
- air conditioning compressor on or off,
- air temperature.
- The displayed temperature values reflect a comfort level.
- When starting the vehicle in hot or cold conditions, increasing or decreasing the displayed value does not reach the comfort level any faster, regardless of the comfort level shown. The system optimizes the warm-up or cool-down (the fan does not start instantly at maximum speed: it increases gradually until the engine temperature is sufficient; this can take from a few seconds to several minutes).
- In general, unless there is a specific reason, the dashboard vents must remain open at all times.
Changing Automatic Mode

Normal system operation is automatic mode, but the system's selection can be changed manually (example: airflow distribution).
Air distribution in the passenger compartment

Five airflow distribution combinations are available by pressing buttons (7) and (8) successively.

The arrows in the display (9) indicate the selected setting:
- Position 1
All the airflow is directed to the windshield and side window defog outlets.
- Position 2
The airflow is directed to the windshield and side window defog outlets and the footwell.
- Position 3
The airflow is directed only to all the vents.
- Position 4
The airflow is directed to all the vents and the footwell.
- Position 5
The airflow is directed only to the footwell.
Note:- Manually selecting the airflow distribution turns off the operating indicator on the display (9) (automatic mode), but only the airflow distribution is no longer automatically controlled by the system.
- To return to automatic mode, press button (10).
Changing the fan speed

In automatic mode, the system manages the fan speed best suited to reach and maintain comfort.
Pressing buttons (11) and (12) turns off automatic mode.
These buttons increase and decrease the fan speed.
Switching the air conditioning on or off

In automatic mode, the system controls switching the air conditioning on or off according to outside weather conditions.
Pressing button (13) turns off automatic mode: the "AUTO" indicator on the display (14) goes off.
Button (13) turns air conditioning on (indicator lit) or off (indicator off).
Note:- The "Clear view" function automatically activates air conditioning (indicator lit).
- To return to automatic mode, press button (15).
- In automatic mode, in cold ambient conditions, the fan does not start instantly at maximum speed: it increases until the engine temperature is sufficient to warm the cabin air.
This can take from a few seconds to several minutes.
Rear window defrosting - demisting

Press button (16); the operating indicator (17) comes on.
This function provides rapid electric demisting of the rear window and heated electric mirrors (if equipped).
Note: To turn off this function, press button (16) again. Otherwise, defogging stops automatically."Clear view" function

Press button (18); the operating indicator (19) comes on.
The "AUTO" button indicator (in the display) goes out.
This function (if equipped) provides rapid defrosting and demisting of the windscreen, front side windows and mirrors.
It automatically switches on the air conditioning, cancels air recirculation and activates rear window defrosting (buttons (22) and (23)).
Press button (22); rear window defrosting stops and indicator (23) goes out.
Note:To reduce the airflow (which may produce a certain level of noise in the cabin), press button (21). To deactivate the "clear view" function, press either:
- button (18) again,
- button (20) (the "AUTO" indicator comes on in the display).
Recirculated air operation

Press button (24) to select air recirculation (the symbol comes on in the display).
During recirculation, air is drawn from the cabin and recirculated without intake of outside air.
Air recirculation isolates the cabin from outside air (driving in polluted areas, etc.).
Prolonged use of this position may cause odours due to lack of fresh air, and may cause the windows to mist up.
Therefore, return to normal operation (outside air or automatic recirculation) by pressing button (24) again as soon as recirculation is no longer needed.
Note: After prolonged use of air conditioning, water dripping under the vehicle from condensation is normal. WARNING- If no cold air is produced, check that the controls operate correctly and that the fuses are in good condition.
- An increase in fuel consumption (especially in urban driving) is normal when the air conditioning is operating.
- In winter, use the air conditioning periodically to keep the air conditioning system in working order.
- If defrosting, demisting or air conditioning performance drops, check the cabin filter cartridge for clogging.
