Electric sunroof: Operation
I - GENERAL
The electric sunroof has an anti-pinch mode that is regulated according to vehicle speed.
IMPORTANTThe anti-pinch mode is only operational if the sunroof has been correctly initialised.
Note: The sunroof closing (sliding or tilting) can be controlled by a long press (about two seconds) on the RENAULT badge close button. This signal is managed by the cabin control unit if it is correctly configured (Cabin Interconnection Unit chapter). In this case, the switch remains in its last position used.
Press the switch to reposition the sunroof to the position it was in before it was closed using the RENAULT badge.
Sunroof electric motor fault

If the sunroof motor fails, it can be operated manually (1) using a six-point (hex) male key.
II - OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The electric sunroof motor has two functions:
- tilt (vent): 1 position,
- slide: 3 positions.
The sunroof is operated by the switch (2).
To operate, the sunroof motor must receive authorisation from the Cabin Central Unit:
- 0 V signal: sunroof movement authorised (opening or closing),
- +12 V signal: sunroof movement not authorised,
- duty cycle signal for opening: automatic sunroof closing by long press on the remote control.

IV - ANTI-PINCH
Obstacle detection is based on analysis of the motor rotation speed. Encountering an obstacle results in a significant change in speed.
Two sensors integral with the motor generate periodic signals. Speed can thus be determined over half a turn.
During the initialisation phase, a speed curve is stored by the control unit integrated into the motor.
For the anti-pinch function, the control unit compares the travel speed with the stored speed.
Depending on the deviations recorded, the system activates anti-pinch mode.
IMPORTANTThe anti-pinch function is only operational if the sunroof has been correctly initialised (see below).
Note: The anti-pinch function can be inhibited in order to overcome a hard point (deformed rail, foreign body in the guide channels). To do this, keep pressing until the sunroof closes in step-by-step mode. When the switch is released, anti-pinch becomes active again.
V - INITIALISATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANTIf the battery is disconnected, an electrical fault occurs or the sunroof is worked on, the system will only operate in manual mode, with jerky movement.
To perform initialisation:
- set the switch to the closed position,
- press and hold the switch for at least two seconds: the motor moves in step-by-step mode, then lowers a few centimetres,
- release the switch.
