Replacement

  1. Raise the vehicle and make sure it is securely supported.
  2. Remove the wheel cap (A).
Be careful not to damage the wheel cap (A) when removing it.
  3. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire (A).
  4. Loosen the stabilizer link (A) and disconnect it from the strut.

    Tightening torque: 98.1 ~ 118 N·m

  5. Loosen the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (A) and the brake hose bracket (B).
  6. Disconnect the front strut assembly (A) from the steering knuckle by loosening the bolt and nut.

    Tightening torque: 196.1 - 216 N·m N·m (20.0 - 22.0 kgf·m, 144.7 - 159.1 lbf·ft)

  7. Remove the front strut assembly and loosen the strut mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 53.9 - 74 N·m N·m (5.5 - 7.5 kgf·m, 39.8 - 54.2 lbf·ft)

  8. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Disassembly

  1. Compress the coil spring (A) using SST (09546-26000). Do not compress the spring more than necessary.
  2. Loosen the self-locking nuts (C) on the strut (B).
  3. Remove the insulator, spring seat, coil spring and dust cover from the strut assembly.
  4. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Inspection

  1. Inspect the strut bearing for wear and damage.
  2. Inspect the upper and lower spring seats for damage and wear.
  3. Compress and extend the piston rod (A) and make sure there is no abnormal resistance or unusual noise during operation.
    Disposal
    1. Fully extend the piston rod.
    2. Drill a hole in the section (A) to release the gas from the cylinder.
      • The exhaust gas is harmless, but be careful of chips that may be generated while drilling.
