System Malfunction

~1min read
  • If the AEB system does not operate properly, the AEB warning light () will illuminate and a warning message will appear for a few seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light () will illuminate. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • An AEB warning message may appear together with the ESC warning light.

WARNING

  • AEB is only a convenience system. The driver must remain responsible for controlling the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the AEB system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and depress the brake pedal as needed to reduce vehicle speed.
  • Under certain circumstances and driving conditions, the AEB system may activate prematurely. An initial warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning chime. Also, in some cases, the front radar sensor or camera recognition system may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian ahead. The AEB system may not activate, and no warning message will be displayed.
  • If there is a malfunction in the AEB system, automatic emergency braking will not be applied, even though the brake system is operating normally.
  • The AEB system only detects vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle. The AEB system does not operate when the vehicle is in reverse. The AEB system is not designed to detect other objects on the road, such as animals. The AEB system does not detect vehicles crossing or approaching from the side. The AEB system cannot detect a vehicle approaching from the side or a parked vehicle (for example, on a dead-end street).
In these cases, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed to ensure a safe distance.
