System Setting and Activation

~2min read

System Settings

The driver can activate AEB by turning the ignition switch to the ON position and selecting 'User Settings', 'Driver Assistance', and 'AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) System'. AEB is deactivated when the driver cancels the system setting.

When the AEB system is turned off, a warning light illuminates on the LCD display. The driver can check the AEB ON/OFF status on the LCD display. If the warning light remains illuminated when the AEB system is active, have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

The driver can select the timing of the Forward Collision Initial Warning in the user settings on the driver's LCD display. Forward Collision Initial Warning options include the following:

• FAST — When this setting is selected, the Forward Collision Initial Warning activates earlier than usual. This setting maximizes the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.

• NORMAL — When this setting is selected, the Forward Collision Initial Warning activates at the normal timing. This setting provides a standard distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.

• LATE — When this setting is selected, the Forward Collision Initial Warning activates later than usual. This setting reduces the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning appears.

Activation Conditions

AEB is ready to activate when AEB is selected on the LCD display and the following conditions are met.

- ESC is activated.
- For the system to detect pedestrians ahead, the vehicle speed must be within 5 to 65 km/h.
- For the system to detect a vehicle ahead, the vehicle speed must be within 5 to 180 km/h.

When driving at speeds above 50 mph (80 km/h), the AEB system applies only partial braking. This prevents unintended full braking that could bring the vehicle to a stop in the middle of a highway.

WARNING

  • AEB is automatically activated when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. The driver can deactivate AEB by canceling the system setting on the LCD display.
  • AEB is automatically deactivated when ESC is turned off. When ESC is off, AEB cannot be activated on the LCD display.
