Hood

To open the hood, release it from inside the vehicle.

1. Pull the hood release lever.

The hood will rise slightly.

Left-hand drive vehicles

Right-hand drive vehicles

2. Push the secondary latch lever to the left and lift the hood.

3. Hold the hood open by inserting the support rod into the slot.

To insert the support rod into the slot, move it as shown in the illustration. If it is moved sideways or toward the outside of the vehicle, it may come off.

WARNING

■ Check before driving Make sure the hood is fully closed and latched.

If the hood is not properly latched, it may open while the vehicle is moving and cause an accident resulting in serious or fatal injury.

■ After inserting the support rod into the slot Make sure the rod securely holds the hood to prevent it from falling and striking your head or body.

■ When removing the support rod from the retaining clip

• Take care to keep your hands and arms from being caught against the underside of the engine hood. Failure to observe this precaution may cause serious injury.
• Keep away from the area of the support protector to avoid burns.

NOTE

■ Closing the hood Make sure to return the support rod to its retaining clip before closing the hood. Closing the hood with the support rod raised may bend the hood.
