When children are on board the vehicle, observe the following precautions.
Use an appropriate child restraint system until the child is tall enough to wear the vehicle's seat belts correctly.
- It is recommended that children sit on the rear seats, to prevent them from accidentally touching the shift lever, wiper switch, etc.
- 5-door models: Use the rear door child safety lock to prevent children from accidentally opening the door while driving.
- Prevent children from operating devices or components that could trap or crush body parts, such as power windows, the hood, the back door, the seats, etc.
Children may be able to start the engine or shift the transmission out of park/neutral. There is also a risk of children injuring themselves while playing with the windows, the soft top or other vehicle functions. In addition, heat build-up or extremely low temperatures inside the vehicle could be fatal to children.
