Automatic Transmission Fluid Replacement
Draining · For easier access, raise the vehicle with a jack and support it on safety stands so that the vehicle is horizontal.
· If necessary, remove the lower splash shields by removing the mounting screws.
· Place a suitable container under the drain plug, clean the area around the plug on the oil pan, and loosen the plug. On the last turns, press the plug against the pan, then after it is fully removed, quickly move it to the side. This allows the fluid to drain into the container rather than onto your sleeve.
Filling · Install the lower splash shields and lower the vehicle to the ground.
· Raise the hood and pull the transmission fluid dipstick out of the tube.
· Slowly pour the transmission fluid through the dipstick tube, using a clean funnel if necessary. Use only the fluid type recommended by the manufacturer. Add fluid until the level is between the notches around the word "COLD" on the dipstick.
· Insert the dipstick, apply the parking brake, and set the transmission selector lever to the P position. Start the engine and let it idle. Depress the brake pedal and move the selector lever through all positions in turn, ending in the P position.
· With the engine still running, check the fluid level again and add fluid as needed up to the upper mark near the word "COLD".
· Perform the final level check after the vehicle has been driven approximately 10 miles.
