Kick-Down Cable Adjustment
General Information and Adjustment
The kick-down cable connects the throttle linkage with the valve body inside the transmission, which regulates fluid flow depending on the throttle position.
The lower end of the cable is connected to a cam in the A/T, which controls the position of the valve. To access the connection between the cable and the cam drive, the oil pan and some components must be removed. Since this work risks introducing dirt into the A/T hydraulic system and subsequent transmission failure, replacement of the cable should be entrusted to a service station specialist.
Adjustment · Make sure the accelerator cable is properly adjusted.
With the throttle fully closed (accelerator pedal released), make sure the metal stopper on the cable protrudes from the rubber boot at the end of the outer sheath by 0 ... 1 mm.
· If the stopper position does not match the specified one, adjust the position of the outer cable sheath by loosening the lock nuts on the bracket.
