Operating Principle of Air Conditioning

The A/C compressor is driven by the engine crankshaft through the V-ribbed belt. It creates a pressure of up to 30 bar in the refrigerant circuit, causing the refrigerant, which is a gas, to heat up. In the condenser, the refrigerant is cooled by the air flowing past it from outside (the cooling air is discharged to the outside environment). As a result, the heated refrigerant condenses into a liquid. Under high pressure, it passes through the expansion valve, where its pressure drops. The refrigerant then evaporates in the circuit, cooling down strongly. In the evaporator, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the air blown through it, so the air is cooled. The cooled air enters the passenger compartment. After being heated in the evaporator, the refrigerant turns into a gas and enters the compressor at low pressure.
