Only start the vehicle once you have fastened your seat belt!

Fig. 174 Driver's seat: buckle and tongue
- Adjust the seat and head restraint correctly before fastening your seat belt, see "Seats and Storage".
- Pull the belt webbing slowly and steadily across your chest and hips by the tongue.
- Insert the tongue into the seat buckle until it clicks audibly => fig. 174.
- Give the belt webbing a tug to make sure the tongue is locked securely in the buckle.
All three-point seat belts are fitted with an automatic retractor.
The automatic system allows complete freedom of movement provided the belts are pulled out slowly. However, it locks in the event of sudden braking. It also locks the belts when the vehicle accelerates, on steep gradients and in corners.
CAUTION!
- Make sure the belt webbing is correctly positioned, see page 184, fig. 173, "Positioning the three-point seat belt webbing" - risk of injury!
- The tongue must only be inserted into the buckle of the seat it is intended for. If you insert it into a different buckle, protection is no longer ensured and the risk of injury increases.
