Safety
Examples of incorrect seating positions
In this manual: Safety
~2min read
Occupants may suffer serious or even fatal injuries if they adopt an incorrect seating position.
Seat belts provide optimal protection only when they are correctly adjusted. An incorrect seating position considerably reduces the protection offered by seat belts and increases the risk of injury if they are not correctly adjusted.
As the driver, you are responsible for yourself, all passengers and especially your children.
- Never allow an occupant to adopt an incorrect seating position while you are driving.
The seating positions listed below may be dangerous for all occupants. This list is not exhaustive, but we want to make you aware of this issue.
When the vehicle is in motion:
- Never stand up inside the vehicle.
- Never stand on the seats.
- Never kneel on the seats.
- Never recline the seatback significantly.
- Never lean against the dashboard.
- Never lie down on the rear bench seat.
- Never sit only on the front part of the seat.
- Never sit turned toward the side.
- Never lean out of the vehicle.
- Never put your feet outside the vehicle.
- Never put your feet on the dashboard.
- Never put your feet on the seat cushion.
- Never drive with a passenger on the floor.
- Never drive without fastening your seat belt.
- Never drive with a passenger in the luggage compartment.
CAUTION!
Any incorrect seating position increases the risk of serious injury.
- Occupants who are not seated correctly are exposed to a risk of very serious injury if the airbags deploy.
- Adopt a correct seating position and maintain it during the trip. Before every journey, remind passengers that they must adopt a correct seating position and maintain it throughout the trip, see "Seats and Storage".
