Winter tyres
Winter tires improve the road holding of vehicles on snow and ice.
- Only use radial-type winter tires.
- Fit winter tires to all four wheels.
- Only use winter tires approved for your vehicle.
- Remember that the maximum permitted speeds of a vehicle fitted with winter tires may be lower than those permitted with summer tires.
- Make sure winter tires have sufficient tread depth.
- Check the tire pressure after mounting the wheel. Observe the values on the tire pressure label on the door pillar.
On winter roads, you can significantly improve your vehicle's handling by fitting winter tires.
Due to their design (width, rubber compounds, tread pattern), the grip of summer tires on snow and ice is poorer. This applies especially to vehicles fitted with wide tires or tires designed for high speeds (speed symbols H, V or Y on the tire sidewall).
Use only winter tires approved for your vehicle. The winter tire sizes for your vehicle are listed in the vehicle documents (for example, the European Certificate of Conformity or COC 3I). The vehicle documents differ from country to country. See also
Winter tires lose much of their effectiveness when their tread depth is reduced to 4 mm.
Winter tires also lose their special properties due to aging, even if their tread depth is still well above 4 mm.
Winter tires are subject to the following speed limits .

In Germany, a corresponding sticker must be placed in the driver's field of view on vehicles that can exceed these speeds. You can obtain it from Audi workshops and from retailers. Please observe the regulations, which may differ in other countries.
You can use "all-season tires" instead of winter tires
Using V-rated winter tires
Be aware that if you use V-rated winter tires, the maximum speed of 240 km/h is not always permitted for technical reasons and may be considerably restricted on your vehicle.
The maximum speed for V-rated tires depends directly on the permitted maximum axle loads and the load capacity rating of the tires fitted to the vehicle.
To determine the maximum permitted speed for your V-rated tires based on the vehicle and tire data, we recommend contacting an Audi dealership.
CAUTION!
Never exceed the maximum permitted speed of your winter tires – risk of accident due to a tire failure and loss of vehicle control.
Environment
Refit your summer tires as soon as possible, because on clear roads they provide better vehicle handling.
Road noise is lower, tire wear is reduced and, above all, your vehicle consumes less fuel.
